Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? That's the question for The Evil Queen, who is jealous of the fair Snow White and sends her into the enchanted forest in the hopes of banishing her forever. But Snow White is rescued from her wanderings by the colorful animals and inhabitants of the woods, including seven friendly Dwarves who take her into their home, and their hearts. Ballet Excel Ohio presents this wonderful rendition of Grimm's fairytale, complete with vivid costumes and sets, with choreography from the company's own esteemed Laszlo Berdo. Displaying the incredible talents of the organization, Snow White is ideal for introducing your little ones to the magical world of dance.
Miss Spider's Tea Party
Ballet Excel Ohio will also be performing Miss Spider's Tea Party, which is based on David Kirk’s children’s book of the same name. Miss Spider’s Tea Party springs to life on the stage of Akron Civic Theatre, weaving the tale of a lonely spider who just wants to have company over for tea. Sprightly dancers in pastel costumes morph into the butterflies, bees, moths, and ants that are initially afraid of Miss Spider’s sinister-seeming web and numerous legs until they get to know her and her gentle spirit. The performance’s dances owe their leaps, twirls, and hokey pokeys to choreographer James Sewell, who also composed the score.
