The city, located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay is known as “America’s First Region” including Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk as well as a variety of smaller cities. Early in the cities life, it was a settlement for immigrants looking to make a new life for themselves in the United States. But today, the town is arguably one of the country’s biggest resort cities due to its miles of beaches and hundreds of hotels, motels, and restaurants that overlook its oceanfront.
