LARGEST ONE-DAY ZYDECO FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD
Zydeco Extravaganza, founded in May 1987, was created to help revive and celebrate Creole culture in St. Landry Parish and the surrounding region. Born from the popular local radio show The Cravins Brothers, originally hosted by Donald and Charles Cravins, the festival has grown into a beloved Memorial Day weekend tradition that draws thousands of Zydeco fans from across the country and around the world.Each year, the event features its crowd-favorite amateur accordion contest, authentic creole food and art vendors that showcase the rich energy, sound, and spirit of Louisiana Creole culture.
Recognized as the largest one-day Zydeco festival in the world, the Zydeco Extravaganza has welcomed and catapulted some of the genre’s most legendary names, including Rockin’ Dopsie, Beau Jocque, Boozoo Chavis, Rockin’ Sidney, Buckwheat Zydeco, Keith Frank, Terrance Simien, Nathan Williams, Zydeco Force, and Chris Ardoin.
For nearly four decades, Zydeco Extravaganza has remained a vibrant celebration of Louisiana’s Creole heritage bringing together music lovers, families, and friends for an unforgettable experience filled with culture, tradition, and Zydeco.
