More About Who Invented Chocolate Mousse? 🍫
The chocolate mousse was invented by the eccentric post-Impressionist painter Henri Toulouse-Lautrec in the late 19th century. Toulouse-Lautrec, an avid experimental cook, developed the recipe for what he called "mayonnaise de chocolat" - the precursor to modern chocolate mousse. His innovative technique combined whipped egg whites and cream with melted chocolate to produce a light, decadent dessert.
Though Toulouse-Lautrec's creation gained some popularity, chocolate mousse didn't truly take off until the late 1800s. The first known published recipe for a chocolate-based "mousse" dates back to 1750, but it was used more for savory dishes. It wasn't until chocolate was brought from Mexico to Spain in the 17th century that the ingredient began being experimented with in desserts. 🍮

Our Story
Founders Isabelle and Vincent moved from France to the United States in order to create a new life. In doing so, they created Isabelle et Vincent, a traditional French bakery that offers the highest quality hand-made baguettes, croissants, chocolates, pastries, desserts, and the like. For over 10 years, Isabelle and Vincent worked tirelessly to provide the best traditional French products to their loyal supporters. After so many years of hard work and dedication, the pair decided to pass the baton on to someone who was willing to maintain the same delicious standard that Isabelle and Vincent have set. In September of 2018, the Saulsberry family took on the huge task of purchasing the bakery and carrying on the legacy.
