More About Junwen Liang | Piano

Philadelphia-based pianist Junwen Liang presents Romantic Encounter, a program that explores the vivid sound worlds of Ravel, Chopin, and Stephen Hough. Blending French impressionism, Polish lyricism, and theatrical imagination, the recital traces the piano’s expressive range from shimmering color and rhythmic vitality to intimate poetry and charm. Through this dialogue of styles and eras, Liang invites listeners into a celebration of the instrument’s timeless beauty and emotional depth.

Junwen Liang graduated with a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, under the tutelage of Richard Goode. His past mentors include Christopher Guzman (Penn State - DMA), Roberto Plano, Edward Auer (Indiana University - MM), and Charis Dimaras (Ithaca College - BM). Currently based in Philadelphia, Junwen teaches piano and chamber music in the Department of Music at University of Pennsylvania.
