More About MGHC: Free Gardening Class "Grow Bucket Gardening"

The Master Gardeners of Hamilton County (MGHC), in association with the University of Tennessee Extension, continue their monthly series of 3rd Saturday Free Gardening Classes on Saturday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m., with “Grow Bucket Gardening” presented by Master Gardener Carlton Mathes. MGHC’s 3rd Saturday Free Gardening Classes take place at the UT-TSU Hamilton County Extension Center, 6183 Adamson Circle, off Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga. The public is requested to register to attend at: Click for Details

Master Gardener Debbie Bauder comments, “Do you not have enough room for a full garden? Maybe you only have a small outdoor space like a patio or a balcony. Or perhaps you don’t have the time or ability to manage a large garden but would still enjoy growing some vegetables of your own. In this class Master Gardener Carlton Mathes will explain how to use grow buckets, which are self-watering planters, for successful and productive gardening. He will demonstrate how to make a grow bucket, how the grow bucket works, and what vegetables and/or herbs can be grown successfully in these versatile containers. You, too, can have your own vegetables to enjoy fresh from your own deck!”

Master Gardener Carlton Mathes earned his Master Gardener certification in 2011. He has served as president of Master Gardeners of Hamilton County, and he volunteers to teach members of our community about building bluebird houses, grow buckets, and rain gardens, among other practical and fun gardening skills. He was featured in CityScope® Magazine as one of Chattanooga’s “Gentlemen with a Green Thumb.”
