More About Repair Right III: Transformer & All American Five Radios

Repair Right III is an advanced level electronics repair course, focused on All American Five radios. Prerequisites required.

Minnesota, being a right-to-repair state, enables individuals to take charge of fixing their electronics. The Pavek Museum is delighted to offer "Repair Right," an electronics repair course designed to empower participants. The course is structured in three phases - I, II, and III - aligning with beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, respectively.

In 2026, Repair Right’s focus is on both Transformer and All American Five radios. Participants will have the opportunity to repair their own devices while learning the intricacies of repairing and restoring these historical electronic gems with knowledgeable instructors.

This registration is specifically for Phase III, the advanced level course. It consists of two, two-and-half-hour sessions that take place over the course of two consecutive Wednesdays or Saturdays. Each session will begin with a lecture and end with a lab in the Raymer Workshop.

There are two date/time options to choose from:

· August 12 & 19 (Wednesdays): 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

· August 15 & 22 (Saturdays): 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The lecture portions of Phase III will cover the following topics:

Alignment
Signal Generation

In the lab portions of Phase III, students will work on:

Advanced repairs such as alignment and signal generation
Dedicated instructor-supervised lab time to work on your radio

By the end of this course, students will have a fundamental understanding of alignment and signal generation. Furthermore, students will successfully have a fully repaired radio.

For this course, students must complete certain prerequisites before attending as it only focuses on advanced repair techniques. Prior to the course, students are required to have independently repaired their own radios to the point of basic functionality. This includes replacing the power cord, electrolytic capacitors, and other components, employing advanced troubleshooting techniques, and addressing possible uncommon repairs. If a student does not possess these skills, they are required to complete Repair Right I and/or Repair Right II first before enrolling in this course.

When you enroll in one Repair Right course, you will be eligible for a discount for registering for additional Repair Right courses.
