More About Messiah University Alumni Highlight: Justin Speers Gallery Exhibition
Exhibition
Climenhaga Building, Glass Gallery: Oct. 2–Nov. 15
Justin (Luke) Speers graduated from the Messiah College Studio Art program in 2012. Since graduating, he has worked as a Graphic Designer for Fox Chapel Publishing and Terrain, Anthropologie’s home and gardens brand. Currently, he is the Art Director of the leading playset manufacturer, King Swings.
As his passion and side endeavor, his artwork has appeared in group exhibits with Arcadia Gallery in New York, NY, The Reboli Center in Stony Brook, NY, The Art Gallery at Devon in Devon, PA, The Long’s Park Art Festival in Lancaster, PA and also featured in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s magazine “Trend and Tradition.”
Growing up in Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Brandywine Tradition is a natural influence in both his artistic style and environmental experience. His inspiration comes from history, symbolism, the inferred meaning of objects and in Biblical studies.
Whether the subjects are small or grand, his painting process is focused on composing a moment that isolates the viewer to sense the subject's story.
Aughinbaugh Art Gallery Hours:
9 a.m.–7 p.m., daily, closed between exhibitions and holidays
High Center and Climenhaga Galleries:
7 a.m.–10 p.m., daily
