Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur’s quest to find the Holy Grail. Inspired by the classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical also diverts a bit from more traditional versions of the legend. Instead, Spamalot features shenanigans including a line of beautiful dancing girls, flatulent Frenchmen, and killer rabbits. Outside, there is plague with a 50% chance of pestilence and famine. Throughout the show, Arthur, traveling with his servant Patsy, recruits several knights to accompany him on his quest, including Sir Bedevere, Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot, and Sir Galahad. Besides the rabbits and farting Frenchman, they meet such characters as the Lady of the Lake, Prince Herbert, Tim the Enchanter, Not Dead Fred, the Black Knight, and the Knights who say Ni.

    - Barry Bradford, national award-winning storyteller, historian, and teacher presents Betty White, American's Favorite Potty-Mouthed Grandma on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, | 12:30–2 p.m. and 7–8:30 p.m. in the MCC Luecht Conference Center | Free of Charge | No registration necessary

Betty White has been called a national treasure—and rightly so! Year in and year out, she has been voted one of America’s most beloved entertainers. You know her as the seeming polite, but secretly scheming Sue Anne Nivens on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, the naïve and trusting Rose on Golden Girls, and the outrageous and somewhat loopy Elka on Hot in Cleveland. She has been a staple on talk shows, game shows, and has even performed in some popular movies.

What you may not know about Betty White is that she was a pioneer in television, being the first woman to produce her own show! She is a best-selling author and tireless advocate for animals. Most importantly, she is widely considered to be one of the nicest people in all of show business. This warm, charming and funny presentation is loaded with hilarious video clips and great stories about the one and only Betty White.

    - The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.

  • | 7:00pm - 8:30pm | Special Interest, genealogy, dead, cook county, indigent, family history, next of kin
    - The McHenry County Illinois Genealogical Society will host a presentation by Rebeca Perrone. Ms. Perrone is the Cook County Medical Examiner’s first indigent coordinator. She handles 700+ cases a year in her role as a Social Worker for the dead. Using a list of names of unclaimed remains, Rebeca searches for potential next of kin, hoping to reunite them with their loved ones. Her stories reflect how basic genealogy techniques can be used to find living relatives. For further information -

Originally from Algonquin, after studying sociology and criminal justice at Loyola University, Rebeca worked for the Indiana Department of Child Services, investigating abuse and neglect claims. She longed to be a detective but not a police officer, so she decided to change jobs and search for living relatives of the unclaimed indigent, so that they might help arrange for a dignified burial.

The meeting will be held at The Pointe, 5650 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake, IL 60014 (next to Target) at 7 pm Thursday, May 10, 2018.

    - Wine has been around for centuries, and there are some health benefits to drinking a glass! Moderate drinkers have lower risks for liver disease, type two diabetes, heart attack, stroke, and some cancers. Wine has also been known to reduce “bad” cholesterol, or LDL, and increase “good” cholesterol, known as HDL.

And a glass of wine won’t add to your waist line. According to Delish.com, a five ounce glass of wine has just 100 calories, and its fat-free and cholesterol free.

So...Raise your glass and celebrate the day!

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.

Since 1986 the Town Planner Calendar has been keeping families across America up-to-date about events and other fun things to do right in their hometown.

Delivered free of charge every December to millions of homes across America, our full-sized, full-color calendar is a time-tested and beloved tool for helping families stay organized. The large date blocks are not only loaded with lots of nearby events and fun things to do, there's plenty of room for you to record your own family's important events like birthdays, anniversaries, parties -- anything you have planned -- so everybody in the house can see them whenever they go to the fridge, out the front door, or wherever you choose to display it.

But there's more! Every calendar is full of coupons from popular local merchants, so you can save money while supporting small businesses right in your hometown.

And don't miss our beautiful full-color photography! Every month you'll recognize a new photo from someplace close to home, submitted to us by a local photographer. If you'd like to have your own hometown photos included in our calendar, please contact your local publisher for more information.

We truly believe it's better to "keep it local". From coast to coast and border to border, our network of franchisees work with organizations and merchants right in their community to make sure you get the information and savings you care about. We prefer to feature family-friendly events that are a short walk or drive away, and coupons from local businesses so you can support your hometown economy.

If there's something happening close to home that folks in your neighborhood need to know about, why not submit it to us today? Please note that publication of your event is subject to approval by your local Town Planner publisher.

If there's no Town Planner calendar in your area, you could be looking at a great business opportunity! Town Planner franchisees set their own hours and can work out of their homes while providing a valuable service to both homeowners and local businesses in the area.
