    - Special Exhibit: Billy Graham – An Extraordinary Journey
On February 21, 2018, Billy Graham’s hope and greatest longing was realized as he entered heaven. Today, he is in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ. God worked through Mr. Graham’s death much like He did through his life, using the events surrounding his passing to open hearts and change lives for eternity through the power of the Gospel. This special exhibit shares the remarkable impact of the events commemorating Billy Graham’s life and ministry – and demonstrates how God is continuing this legacy of evangelism to “bring salvation to the ends of the earth” (Acts 13:47).
Browse fascinating photos, never-before-seen memorabilia, and testimonies from those who have been impacted since Billy Graham’s passing.
Located in the lobby of the Billy Graham Library, this exhibit is free to the public and no pre-registration is required. For more information, please call 704-401-3200.

    - The Carolina Junior Modern Quilt Guild will be a space for creative kids + teens ages 9 and up to come together to sew and learn modern quilt techniques and applications.

    What is a Quilt Guild?

A guild is an association of people with similar interests or pursuits. So, a Quilt Guild is a group of people who meet together and share the common interest of quilting and pursue ways to use it for good.

    How often will we meet?

We will meet once on the third Friday of each month from 7pm-9pm.

    Can I invite my friends?

Yes, you may invite friends who share the interest of quilting. You may bring a guest one time without them having to become a member. After a person visits one time, they will need to join the Guild in order to continue coming to our monthly meetings.

    What will we be doing?

Learning different modern quilting techniques, including different styles of piecing, how to complete a quilt top, how to make a quilt sandwich, binding, and more!

Serving the community will be one a focus of the guild. Our first project will be a Healing Hearts quilt. While making the quilt we will so much about quilting from beginning to end. We will also deliver the quilt together to our recipient.

Sew ‘n’ Tell. We will have a share time each month for anyone who wants to show a project they’re working on or have completed at home, ask questions about a project they need help or ideas on, etc. Don’t be shy, this is a great place to help one another stay excited and committed to trying new things at home and finishing projects!

How-to Workshops. Some months we will have workshops where we learn basic skills such as using rulers and rotary cutters, how to select the right fabrics and colors, half-square triangle fun, free motion quilting, and more.

Having fun and fellowship together! We will do fun games and puzzles all centered around quilting. Even fabric swaps and prizes!
Who is in charge of the Carolina Jr Modern Quilt Guild?

Ms. Jen and Ms. Sonia will facilitate and help organize meetings. As the Guild grows members will have the opportunity to serve in leadership roles such as president and secretary.

Our Guild is an affiliate member of the Modern Quilt Guild Inc. Through a group exemption with the Modern Quilt Guild Inc., we are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

Ready to become a member? Complete the online membership form.

The annual membership dues are $35.

Fun things to do in Matthews

Since 1986 the Town Planner Calendar has been keeping families across America up-to-date about events and other fun things to do right in their hometown.

Delivered free of charge every December to millions of homes across America, our full-sized, full-color calendar is a time-tested and beloved tool for helping families stay organized. The large date blocks are not only loaded with lots of nearby events and fun things to do, there's plenty of room for you to record your own family's important events like birthdays, anniversaries, parties -- anything you have planned -- so everybody in the house can see them whenever they go to the fridge, out the front door, or wherever you choose to display it.

But there's more! Every calendar is full of coupons from popular local merchants, so you can save money while supporting small businesses right in your hometown.

And don't miss our beautiful full-color photography! Every month you'll recognize a new photo from someplace close to home, submitted to us by a local photographer. If you'd like to have your own hometown photos included in our calendar, please contact your local publisher for more information.

We truly believe it's better to "keep it local". From coast to coast and border to border, our network of franchisees work with organizations and merchants right in their community to make sure you get the information and savings you care about. We prefer to feature family-friendly events that are a short walk or drive away, and coupons from local businesses so you can support your hometown economy.

If there's something happening close to home that folks in your neighborhood need to know about, why not submit it to us today? Please note that publication of your event is subject to approval by your local Town Planner publisher.

If there's no Town Planner calendar in your area, you could be looking at a great business opportunity! Town Planner franchisees set their own hours and can work out of their homes while providing a valuable service to both homeowners and local businesses in the area.
