    - Bocce Ball
Tuesdays at 10:00 am ~ weather permitting

Bocce Ball is closely related to lawn bowling. The biggest difference is that bocce is played on a hard-surface court with a backstop at each
end, while lawn bowling is played on grass with a relatively free-form "court". There are very few Bocce courts in the U.S. and McHenry Township has a tournament certified Bocce court in McHenry Township Park.

Weather permitting, area seniors gather to participate in a fun outdoor bowling game in the park across the parking lot from the McHenry Township Senior Center. Teams are formed and everyone is welcome to participate. There is no charge to play. The Township provides the balls. All residents age 50 and older are welcome to join in this friendly weekly competition.

    - Movies at the Opera House
    Wednesday December 19, 2018 at 7:00 PM

Tis the season to be jolly, joyous, and watch The Muppet Christmas Carol.

The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets -- Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle -- weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases -- past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.

  • | 10:00am - | Seniors, Retirement, Bocce Ball, Senior Fitness Programs

    - Boxing Day is December 26, the day after Christmas, and is celebrated in Great Britain and in most areas settled by the English (the U.S. is the major exception), including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Some historians say the holiday developed because servants were required to work on Christmas Day, but took the following day off. As servants prepared to leave to visit their families, their employers would present them with gift boxes.
