    - The 2018 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with G-Man: The Rise & Fall of Melvin Purvis, part of the Carolina Stories Series by SCETV.
The name, Melvin Horace Purvis, to many people today, means nothing. But it was not so long ago that Purvis was a household name, and over 260,000 boys and girls were digging through boxes of Post Toasties breakfast cereal to get their very own decoder rings and Junior G-Man badges. Purvis, the Timmonsville native with the unassuming name, skyrocketed to such fame in the 1930s as leader of the FBI team that took down some of the biggest gangsters of his day, including John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. His death in 1960 is still shrouded in mystery. Was it a suicide, as first reported? Was it an accidental shooting? Or was there something more sinister behind it?
The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 25th, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.
The Horry County Museum Documentary Film Matinees will continue throughout 2018. For a full list of films, visit our website at click for details. For more information, call the Horry County Museum at 843-915-5320 or e-mail hcgmuseum@horrycounty.org.

Welcome to Pirate Adventures of Myrtle Beach! A place where children come to experience the magic of sailing away in search of sunken treasure. Come aboard our pirate ship and get caught up in this real life adventure. Be amazed as our crew taps into the wonder of a child’s imagination. Your child will be painted with a curly mustache or with an anchor tattoo, dressed with a lucky tea sure hunting vest and marched off to the ship.

Once aboard, the young pirates will learn the rules at sea aboard the Sea Gypsy and use a treasure map to find the sunken treasure. As the crew searches for clues, they discover that Pirate Pete, the smiliest, most rotten, pirate on the Seven Seas, is lurking nearby, and he has something our brave crew needs. Off we go into battle with our famous water cannons! Will the crew defeat Pirate Pete and find the sunken treasure!?!
Aboard the Sea Gypsy, we always find the treasure, we always defeat that Pirate Pete, and the children always walk away with incredible stories!

Fun things to do in Myrtle Beach

Since 1986 the Town Planner Calendar has been keeping families across America up-to-date about events and other fun things to do right in their hometown.

Delivered free of charge every December to millions of homes across America, our full-sized, full-color calendar is a time-tested and beloved tool for helping families stay organized. The large date blocks are not only loaded with lots of nearby events and fun things to do, there's plenty of room for you to record your own family's important events like birthdays, anniversaries, parties -- anything you have planned -- so everybody in the house can see them whenever they go to the fridge, out the front door, or wherever you choose to display it.

But there's more! Every calendar is full of coupons from popular local merchants, so you can save money while supporting small businesses right in your hometown.

And don't miss our beautiful full-color photography! Every month you'll recognize a new photo from someplace close to home, submitted to us by a local photographer. If you'd like to have your own hometown photos included in our calendar, please contact your local publisher for more information.

We truly believe it's better to "keep it local". From coast to coast and border to border, our network of franchisees work with organizations and merchants right in their community to make sure you get the information and savings you care about. We prefer to feature family-friendly events that are a short walk or drive away, and coupons from local businesses so you can support your hometown economy.

If there's something happening close to home that folks in your neighborhood need to know about, why not submit it to us today? Please note that publication of your event is subject to approval by your local Town Planner publisher.

If there's no Town Planner calendar in your area, you could be looking at a great business opportunity! Town Planner franchisees set their own hours and can work out of their homes while providing a valuable service to both homeowners and local businesses in the area.
