    - Pokagon State Park's refrigerated Toboggan Run near Angola, Indiana, has about 90,000 riders every season. With the 30-foot tower and dips and valleys, the total vertical drop is 90 feet over the course of a quarter mile. The top recorded speed is 42 mph. It's a 20 to 30 second thrill ride.

    It opens for the season, with or without snow at 10:30am on Friday, November 23, and operates through Sunday, February 24, 2019.

    - Get ready for an epic moon event this month. Overnight from Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, into Monday, Jan. 21, millions of people in North and South America will have a prime view of a total lunar eclipse. During a special nocturnal hour, the full moon will become fully tinted with the red-orange color of sunset.

    The Jan. 21 total lunar eclipse will be the last one until May 2021, and the last one visible from the United States until 2022; the most recent total lunar eclipse previous to this one appeared in July 2018.

    Though the Zoo is usually closed on Mondays in January, it will be our privilege to open our gates on this day to those with a generous heart. Our hardier animals will be out to enjoy the day, including tigers, walrus, brown bears and more. The Zoo's indoor exhibits — Oceans, Dolphin Dome, Deserts Dome and Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center — will be open as well. Plus guests can enjoy a free dolphin presentation.

    Experience all 24 NCAA sports through interactive exhibits including a 1930s replica gymnasium, sports simulators, trivia challenges and more. The second floor media room will feature The Game of Change – the story of the 1963 Mississippi State team that snuck out of town in the middle of the night to play a Loyola (Illinois) team that featured four black starters. As in years past, guests can also participate in a scavenger hunt and register for hourly raffle prizes for official NCAA merchandise.

    - Pokagon State Park's refrigerated Toboggan Run near Angola, Indiana, has about 90,000 riders every season. With the 30-foot tower and dips and valleys, the total vertical drop is 90 feet over the course of a quarter mile. The top recorded speed is 42 mph. It's a 20 to 30 second thrill ride.

    It opens for the season, with or without snow at 10:30am on Friday, November 23, and operates through Sunday, February 24, 2019.
