More About Self-Care When You Don’t Have the Energy to Do Self-Care 🌿
When you are emotionally exhausted, even self-care can feel like another responsibility. You may know what would help but simply cannot find the energy to do it.
Start smaller:
1. Lower the bar: Self-care does not have to mean an hour at the gym or a perfect morning routine. Taking a shower, eating something nourishing, or stepping outside can count. 🌱
2. Choose what restores you: Not every activity labeled “self-care” actually feels restorative. Ask whether something leaves you calmer, more connected, or more rested.
3. Stop treating rest as failure: Rest is not something you have to earn by finishing everything first. Sometimes your body and mind need a pause before they can do more.
Sometimes even small steps feel difficult. SMD Associates can help you understand what may be getting in the way. Give yourself permission to seek support, not just more strategies. 👩💼
