    - Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 11:18-20

Classes for all ages! If you are not involved in a Sunday school class, I really encourage you to find one that you can grow in. Studying God’s Word is never a mistake. Don’t worry if you don’t know the answers, there are teacher’s guides to guide you, curricula to use. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to pronounce every name and place. I’ll give you a hint, the others in your group won’t know the difference.

Will you be there next Sunday?

We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming. Hebrews 10:25

    - In the years following the Revolutionary War, the Huston family opened up a boarding house in a desolate hollow in the Appalachian Mountains east of Pittsburgh Pa. Boarders often stayed to work the local coal mines and sawmill or help with the annual crop harvest. Even the occasional Renegade Civil War solder would stop and share tales of the atrocities of the war. The Huston’s adopted daughter Mae Bruner was the house mistress but after a disfiguring accident, began to exhibit certain evil tendencies. Each of her rooms had a wicked surprise awaiting her unsuspecting guests. Her reputation as a cruel landlady became known far and wide and eventually, no one ventured near the “Boarding House” for fear of becoming another one of “Mad Mae’s” permanent boarders! The house has long since been abandoned but some say that the malevolent spirit of Mad Mae still walks the property making sure that all of her guests…..sleep like the dead!

    - Love to sing? The River House has a new chorus! The River House Community Chorus will be lead by Elizabeth Podsiadlo - voice instructor at Honeybee Music Studios.

Elizabeth Podsiadlo owns and runs Hampshire Honey Bee Music in Romney, WV. She has studied and taught voice and piano for more than 15 years. Her specialty being free and unimpeded vocal production, which stems from an understanding of “belly breathing” This type of breathing frees the voice and brings more comfort and color into the voice of each singer. The understanding of “color” comes into play as well, as we learn that each voice has a different timber or color which can be manipulated by the singer through “breathing and facial movement” We will learn how to blend these colors to make a choir produce a unified sound.
The understanding of the belly breathing and the facial movement will be taught through breathing exercises and vocal exercises. These can be very fun and will oxygenate those participating which can lift mood and increase health.
Elizabeth will teach 5 pieces which the group can sing along with the Romney Community Choir at her October 18th and 19th program at the Bottling Works in Romney.

There is an opportunity to sing a song or two at a WW1 Concert as well as carol at the tree lighting ceremony in Capon Bridge!

Fun things to do in Rio

Since 1986 the Town Planner Calendar has been keeping families across America up-to-date about events and other fun things to do right in their hometown.

Delivered free of charge every December to millions of homes across America, our full-sized, full-color calendar is a time-tested and beloved tool for helping families stay organized. The large date blocks are not only loaded with lots of nearby events and fun things to do, there's plenty of room for you to record your own family's important events like birthdays, anniversaries, parties -- anything you have planned -- so everybody in the house can see them whenever they go to the fridge, out the front door, or wherever you choose to display it.

But there's more! Every calendar is full of coupons from popular local merchants, so you can save money while supporting small businesses right in your hometown.

And don't miss our beautiful full-color photography! Every month you'll recognize a new photo from someplace close to home, submitted to us by a local photographer. If you'd like to have your own hometown photos included in our calendar, please contact your local publisher for more information.

We truly believe it's better to "keep it local". From coast to coast and border to border, our network of franchisees work with organizations and merchants right in their community to make sure you get the information and savings you care about. We prefer to feature family-friendly events that are a short walk or drive away, and coupons from local businesses so you can support your hometown economy.

If there's something happening close to home that folks in your neighborhood need to know about, why not submit it to us today? Please note that publication of your event is subject to approval by your local Town Planner publisher.

If there's no Town Planner calendar in your area, you could be looking at a great business opportunity! Town Planner franchisees set their own hours and can work out of their homes while providing a valuable service to both homeowners and local businesses in the area.
