More About ORGANISTS WORKSHOP WITH PEGGY HAAS HOWELL

Workshop/Masterclass: Making Early Dutch and German Organ Music Come Alive!

Peggy Haas Howell has a special interest in historic performance practice. Using the Andover tracker organ, she will discuss and demonstrate the use of early playing techniques to perform organ music from Sweelinck through Johann Sebastian Bach. These techniques are useful tools for becoming closer to the music.

Organists are invited to play a piece by Sweelinck, Scheidt, Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, or other early German or Dutch composers for the masterclass. There is no obligation to play, however.

This is a rare opportunity to meet with a musician who is not only a renowned concert organist but also vice-president of the American Guild of Organists.

Organists of all skill levels will find this event helpful. Non-organists are also welcome!

Refreshments at 9:30 a.m. Program at 10:00 a.m. Admission is free, and there is free parking near the chapel.
