  • | Special Interest, Human Trafficking, Sold, North Myrtle Beach Woman's Club, the movie "Sold"
    - GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club will host a presentation of the movie "Sold" at the Carmike 12 Theatre (10177 North Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach, S.C.) on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM.

The club is bringing the movie to our area to bring awareness to our communities about human trafficking.

The public is invited to attend this exclusive, one-night only showing of this insightful and chilling movie, based on the international bestselling novel by Patricia McCormick, and inspired by true accounts.

This is the story of a young girl, who journeys from a rural village in Nepal to a gritty brothel-prison in India. The film illustrates the brutality of child trafficking, which affects millions of children around the globe every year.

Globally the average age of a trafficked girl is thirteen. GFWC-NMBWC hopes this will be a call to action and educate viewers to address the crime locally and nationally.

Open to the public. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online at click for details

If you would like more information or have questions, please contact the “Sold” Project chairperson at (815) 322-6623.

    - The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.
