The assignation of the Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife by a Serbian nationalist is what provoked this war.     - This workshop is a beginners’ comprehensive exploration to bridge the worlds between intuition and self-expression through abstract painting techniques. Work with various art mediums with a focus on acrylic painting, become acquainted with your creative intuition and learn how to use that intuition in a fun and rewarding way to self-express with paint on large canvas format. Students will also learn methods to navigate through creative blocks and to feel more confident in their own creative processes.

    The one-day workshop fee is $200, or $180 for PCCA members. Please register by July 14; this workshop is limited to 6 students.

    - The Downtown Improvement District is responsible for organizing this Summer's Discover the Ducks Downtown project. The ducks landed on the first day of Summer and will return home on September 22nd. The DID commissioned Sprocket Mural Works to organize local artists to design and paint each of the ducks. A big thank you to Ron Kamionka and Kamionka Entertainment Group for their help and support with this project!

    - The Astronomical Society of Harrisburg's Naylor Observatory, which is located at 670 Observatory Drive, two miles northwest of Lewisberry, will be open to the public, weather permitting, at 8:30 p.m. Five large telescopes and a number of smaller ones will be used to show visitors a variety of celestial objects such as the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies.
    The observatory will also be open on the following dates: May 14th, May 21st, June 11th, June 18th, July 2nd, July 9th, July 16th, July 30th, August 6th, August 13th, August 27th, September 10th, September 30th (Fall Astronomy Day), October 8th, and November 12th. Starting times may vary.
