This role is often recognized as one of the most iconic in the operetta, particularly noted for its signature song, "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General."

Before undertaking this role, Darryl Maximilian Robinson was already an acclaimed actor, having received various Chicago and LA theater accolades throughout his career, including a 2013 Los Angeles Marcom Masque Theatre Award nomination for Best Actor In A Major Supporting Role for his role as the historic Black educator and orator Booker T. Washington in "Ragtime" and, most recently, both a 2022 Making The World Happening Award from Allevents.in for his numerous online theatre-related offerings and a 2024 Broadwayworld Los Angeles Award nomination for Best Supporting Performer In A Play for his portrayal of Chicago Tribune Newspaper Reporter Roy V.
