Darryl Maximilian Robinson is an experienced and award-winning stage actor, play director, and drama instructor. He made American Theatre History as the first African-American actor to appear on stage as Sir Thomas More in Robert Bolt's "A Man For All Seasons," King Henry II in James Goldman's "The Lion in Winter," and Andrew Wyke in Anthony Shaffer's "Sleuth."
Honored to be joined onstage by talented fellow artists Jennifer Sperry as Mabel Stanley, Drew Fitzsimmons as The Pirate King, Chris Yeschenko as Frederick, Cindy Irwin Bullock as Ruth and Fabio Di Nino as The Sergeant of Police, with a versatile supporting ensemble, skilled live orchestra, fine production team and tech crew, Darryl Maximilian Robinson was challenged, thrilled and delighted to play Major-General Stanley in this 135th Anniversary Revival Production.
"Perhaps most of all, it requires a sterling Major-General Stanley. This is the role that everyone remembers, and Darryl Maximilian Robinson was delicious singing the Major-General's "I Am the Very Model of a Model Major-General," adding just a touch of allowed originality to the part by interacting with the audience. His was a genuinely memorable performance worth seeing again." -- John Farrell, Review: Exciting 'Pirates' attacks San Pedro Theatre Club, The Daily Breeze, October 21, 2014.
"The Pirates of Penzance" is an opera by Gilbert & Sullivan that satirizes Victorian society and the British class system.
