More About Darryl Maximilian Robinson's Tomorrow And Tomorrow And Tomorrow Speech at The Giant Chair of LA

ESC'S DARRYL MAXIMILIAN ROBINSON CELEBRATES THE 462ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE WITH A PAIR OF STREET THEATRE VIDEO PERFORMANCE RENDITIONS OF MACBETH'S "TOMORROW AND TOMORROW AND TOMORROW" SPEECH AT THE GIANT CHAIR OF LOS ANGELES!

Now in his ninth year of sharing "street theatre"-style video renditions of famed speeches from the plays and poems of world literary giants, 2022 Making The World Happening Award Winner Darryl Maximilian Robinson ( who is The Founder, Artistic Director, Producer and Principal Performer of both the multiracial chamber theatre groups The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and The Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project ) adds to The ESC Chicago and Los Angeles collection of works with a pair of video takes of one of the most renowned speeches from "The Scottish Tragedy" by William Shakespeare in honor of The Immortal Bard's 462nd birthday!

And he has chosen one of Downtown LA's most interesting and intriguing locations as his backdrop: The Giant Chair of Los Angeles!

Built and constructed by the skilled Italian furniture manufacturers and craftsmen of Promosedia in 2003, The Giant Chair of Los Angeles was originally meant to be gifted and put on permanent outdoor display at the world famous Merchandise Mart of Chicago. However, the operators of that venue feared the harsh Midwestern winters would be too much for The Giant Chair ( which stands more than 40 feet tall and weighs more than 24 tons ). Therefore, to avoid prolonged damage by weather, The Merchandise Mart of Chicago gifted The Giant Chair to The LA Mart, Los Angeles' most noted furniture hub with its main facility near the intersection of Washington and Broadway in the south part of DTLA.

Since 2003, for 23 years, this huge furniture piece has taken up no less than six parking lot spaces in the lot behind The LA Mart Building. It was at one point the single tallest chair in The United States until it lost that title a few years ago to a 42-foot-high rocking chair in Missouri. It still remains, however, the tallest piece of furniture in Los Angeles and the entire west coast.

Seeing a connection between the throne-like massiveness of The Giant Chair of Los Angeles and the ego, ambition and corruption of one of Shakespeare's most flawed and tragic kings, ESC Founder Darryl Maximilian Robinson felt it might be a fine spot to share
Macbeth's "Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow" Speech in a new April 20, 2026 Street Theatre Video Rendition.

Ably assisted by talented young ESC newcomer Joshua Dorsey ( an aspiring photographer, videographer, editor and internet influencer who shot the experience ), each of the two takes ( both a little more than three minutes each ) features a description of The Giant Chair of Los Angeles before Mr. Robinson's rendition of Macbeth's famed speech.

52-year-long American Stage Performer Darryl Maximilian Robinson's rendition of The Bard's "Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow" Speech as Macbeth represents his 8th short video honoring works by William Shakespeare. The entire collection of videos from The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and The Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project can be viewed at both his Facebook Page and YouTube channel.

Happy Birthday To William Shakespeare!
