In the darkest days of the American Revolution, the Continental Congress fled to York, Pennsylvania. Behind those courthouse doors, a nation was debated into existence. From fierce political rivalries to ordinary citizens whose lives were forever changed, ArtiCon tells the story of how the Articles of Confederation-our first experiment in self-government—were written in uncertainty, with courage, compromise, and hope. In a fast-paced, powerful 35-45 minute mini musical blending rap, hip-hop, pop, and modern musical theatre with period storytelling. This performance is part of York Fringe Festival, an annual celebration of nontraditional live arts, such as improv and stand-up comedy, drag, burlesque, circus arts and sideshow, spoken word, puppetry, magic, dance, opera, storytelling, variety, interdisciplinary performance art, etc., as well as new twists on traditional theatre, such as re-setting Shakespeare under the sea or in Spanish-language performances.
